Underground Aussie Bands to Check Out:
Avalon Drive:

Avalon Drive released their brand new single 'Make Your Move' nationally on May 21 2007… this single is just a taste of the debut album that's to come!
2006 was undoubtedly a big year for Brisbane rockers, Avalon Drive, who toured the country several times over with The Veronicas, INXS, All American Rejects, Yellowcard, Houston Calls and Matchbook Romance, and that's not to mention three of their own headlining tours, a performance on Rove Live and the release of the band's second EP 'The City Of Burnt Out Lights'.
Move to 2007, and things haven't slowed down for the five-piece having started the year Playnig with Hoobastank and joined “Fall out Boy” on their Australian Tour. With their new single 'Make Your Move' at radio nationally now and released commercially as a digital single on May 21, 2007 singer Damion Page is citing the track as "a very small taste of what is to come."
'Make Your Move' is "an energetic rock song full of mood lifting spirit," says Drummer Shane Holmes who notes the latest [March 2007] arena shows with Fall Out Boy as the highlight of his musical career to date. "Musically it's a bit of a journey," adds Damion. "Lyrically it's about decision-making, it is about change and procrastination."
'Make Your Move' was produced by Melbourne producer, Forrester Savell, best known for his production on The Butterfly Effect's 'Imago' (ARIA 2), Human Nature's 'Reach Out' and 'Dancing In The Streets' (both ARIA 1), Karnivool's 'Themata”. "We all have very different ideas when it comes to writing so working with Forester really helped bring all that together," Said Damion.
Forming in 2005 under the guise of Avalon Drive
Band Members are:
- Damion Page (vocals), Wil Morris (guitar/backing vocals), Ryan Kennedy (bass), Shane Holmes (drums) and BJ Dillewaard (keyboards)
- the band released their debut self-titled EP independently which spawned two singles including 'This Simple Life' and fan favorite 'Outside Alone', receiving high rotation on both Channel V and Nova FM.
In 2006, the band's rise was immanent when they released follow up EP 'The City Of Burnt Out Lights' which again spawned two singles including radio favourite, 'Get Up' which the band went on to perform nationally as Rove Live's house band and guest performance on Toasted TV both on Network Ten.
As we approach the end of 2007 there has been no rest for the boys as they have been tucked away writing for their highly anticipated debut album. “We don’t care how long this process takes” says vocalist Damion Page. “We are all very different and all want individual things inside our music so putting a time limit on that is not something we are wanting to do. We have had to get over some pretty huge obstacles this year and the future is looking so good for us. So, until then”.
Repeat Offender:

HEY HEY!
Our name is Repeat Offender and we're a band! We're pretty much just good buddies that write songs, record them and then play them live for people.
We're live in Brisbane, Australia and sometimes we're lucky enough to travel right across Australia, playing music and meeting heaps of rad new people.
Repeat Offender is just our name and generally we are fairly well behaved. (Except when we get rowdy and stuff and get in trouble for singing nude karoake and not remembering where we are or how we got there... stuff like this only happens 6 or 7 times a month though...)
We've so far had the good fortune to play with some of our favourite bands, including THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, THE USED, STORY OF THE YEAR, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, THE VERONICAS, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, COG and heaps more. If you want to see some of the shows we've played then check out our gig-ography blog. Ahhh... the memories...
We try to answer all of your emails, but seeing as we aren't super famous yet and we all still have to work shitty day jobs (like being roofers and signmakers and debt collectors and bugs bunny and stuff) we might occasionally forget to respond. Don't give up though! We'd love to have a chat to you all when we can!
Here's some nice stuff people have said about us:
"This Brisbane five piece are destined for bigger things. and from the time they exploded onto the stage they decimated the crowd with a tight, energetic set that whet the appetite perfectly.
With a two pronged vocal attack the music was loud, aggressive and infectious, with the bands enthusiasm and vibe spilling off stage and winning the ears and respect of the crowd.
These guys knew what they were here to do and they delivered. "

We also have a cd available in cd stores right across Australia and through I-tunes INTERNATIONALLY (la dee dah!!!!!). It's called "To a modern love..." and if they've sold out at your local cd shop, then you can order one by quoting the catalogue number, which is mm0032
Here's some nice stuff about the cd:
"So far, these boys seem to have recieved nothing but praise - and this release will do nothing to taint that reputation. 'To A Modern Love...' is an excellent testimony to a fantastic band that mix the rock with melodic vocal lines, making it accessible and really cool all at once."
- Rave Magazine, May 23, 2006
We've just finished recording our first album, set to be released sooooooon. We're really excited about it, so check back regularly and don't forget to tell your buddies about us if you like what you hear :)
See you at a show soon...

* Drawing influences from all 4 members different stylistic approach to writing (rock, pop, indie, metal & dance)
* These young up & comers have managed to create something thats heavy & hard rocking yet still full of an eccentric pop appeal
