Underground Aussie Bands to Check Out:
Avalon Drive:

2006 was undoubtedly a big year for Brisbane rockers, Avalon Drive, who toured the country several times over with The Veronicas, INXS, All American Rejects, Yellowcard, Houston Calls and Matchbook Romance, and that's not to mention three of their own headlining tours, a performance on Rove Live and the release of the band's second EP 'The City Of Burnt Out Lights'.
Move to 2007, and things haven't slowed down for the five-piece having started the year Playnig with Hoobastank and joined “Fall out Boy” on their Australian Tour. With their new single 'Make Your Move' at radio nationally now and released commercially as a digital single on May 21, 2007 singer Damion Page is citing the track as "a very small taste of what is to come."
'Make Your Move' is "an energetic rock song full of mood lifting spirit," says Drummer Shane Holmes who notes the latest [March 2007] arena shows with Fall Out Boy as the highlight of his musical career to date. "Musically it's a bit of a journey," adds Damion. "Lyrically it's about decision-making, it is about change and procrastination."
'Make Your Move' was produced by Melbourne producer, Forrester Savell, best known for his production on The Butterfly Effect's 'Imago' (ARIA 2), Human Nature's 'Reach Out' and 'Dancing In The Streets' (both ARIA 1), Karnivool's 'Themata”. "We all have very different ideas when it comes to writing so working with Forester really helped bring all that together," Said Damion.
Forming in 2005 under the guise of Avalon Drive
Band Members are:
- Damion Page (vocals), Wil Morris (guitar/backing vocals), Ryan Kennedy (bass), Shane Holmes (drums) and BJ Dillewaard (keyboards)
- the band released their debut self-titled EP independently which spawned two singles including 'This Simple Life' and fan favorite 'Outside Alone', receiving high rotation on both Channel V and Nova FM.
In 2006, the band's rise was immanent when they released follow up EP 'The City Of Burnt Out Lights' which again spawned two singles including radio favourite, 'Get Up' which the band went on to perform nationally as Rove Live's house band and guest performance on Toasted TV both on Network Ten.
As we approach the end of 2007 there has been no rest for the boys as they have been tucked away writing for their highly anticipated debut album. “We don’t care how long this process takes” says vocalist Damion Page. “We are all very different and all want individual things inside our music so putting a time limit on that is not something we are wanting to do. We have had to get over some pretty huge obstacles this year and the future is looking so good for us. So, until then”.
Repeat Offender:

Our name is Repeat Offender and we're a band! We're pretty much just good buddies that write songs, record them and then play them live for people.
We're live in
Repeat Offender is just our name and generally we are fairly well behaved. (Except when we get rowdy and stuff and get in trouble for singing nude karoake and not remembering where we are or how we got there... stuff like this only happens 6 or 7 times a month though...)
We've so far had the good fortune to play with some of our favourite bands, including THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, THE USED, STORY OF THE YEAR, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, THE VERONICAS, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, COG and heaps more. If you want to see some of the shows we've played then check out our gig-ography blog. Ahhh... the memories...
We try to answer all of your emails, but seeing as we aren't super famous yet and we all still have to work shitty day jobs (like being roofers and signmakers and debt collectors and bugs bunny and stuff) we might occasionally forget to respond. Don't give up though! We'd love to have a chat to you all when we can!
Here's some nice stuff people have said about us:
"This
With a two pronged vocal attack the music was loud, aggressive and infectious, with the bands enthusiasm and vibe spilling off stage and winning the ears and respect of the crowd.
These guys knew what they were here to do and they delivered. "
- Gig review by Fasterlouder.com.au
We also have a cd available in cd stores right across
Here's some nice stuff about the cd:
"So far, these boys seem to have recieved nothing but praise - and this release will do nothing to taint that reputation. 'To A Modern Love...' is an excellent testimony to a fantastic band that mix the rock with melodic vocal lines, making it accessible and really cool all at once."
- Rave Magazine, May 23, 2006
We've just finished recording our first album, set to be released sooooooon. We're really excited about it, so check back regularly and don't forget to tell your buddies about us if you like what you hear :)
See you at a show soon...

Ah... this next song I wanna dedicate to anybody out there who eva wanted to tell their teacher… you know what, you know what it is the fuck you’re talking about and WALK RIGHT OUT OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!! … AND to everybody out there who wants to look their boss in the eye and say KISS MY FUCKING ARSE… AND to all my mother fuckers out there… that wanna look at their boyfriends and their girlfriend and say FUCK YOU!!! This is a song… a song about FREEDOM… This song is called ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“How many people out there are ready to sing this song with us, how many people out there out put this song on when your home alone at night?... We fucking love you guys so much… Thank you also so much for making
30 SECONDS TO MARS CONCERT - 4TH MAY - HORDERN PAVILION SYDNEY
Ok so, we( jess(jesstarn) Shelly and Kim) got to the concert and were lining up, and Kim was REALLY bored so she managed to get a chocolate egg and called it Pegasus then Shell got the egg and drew on it, which Kim then got back and drew on more stuff!!!
While that was happening, a random guy arrived with a t-shirt that said ‘free hugs’ and Kim and I ran up and gave him a hug!! It was kool!! XD
Anyway, so when the security guards came, they said ‘don’t run’ and do any of us listen?!? Hell no, we bolted *and I mean EVERYONE!!* Into the concert hall but then we had to stop cuz the other door wasn’t even open!! It’s like ‘wtf?!?!’ and when they finally did open, I grabbed Kim’s and Shell’s hand and we RAN into it, we managed to get into the 3rd line right in front of the microphone (we knew Jared would be there soon!!) !!
Before Angela’s Dish *supporting band* came on, a lot of people left the mosh pit!! So I kinda felt sorry for them!
But I wasn’t sorry for seeing Jared poke his head out of the curtain, everyone screamed!!!
Angela’s Dish were awesome!! Seriously, although there were a couple of guys behind me that kept saying ‘WE WANT 30! WE WANT 30! GET OFF THE STAGE, GIVE US YOUR GUITAR YOU DON’T EVEN NEED IT!!’
Then I started having the shits with them cuz A.D were REALLY good, but NOT as good as 30!! But still!!
Then we waited until 30 came on, and it was FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!
Heaps of fucking smoke was coming out, it was choking us, but we didn’t care *we never do XD*, and the blue lights it was… indescribable!!!
The stage looked like a set from the clip From Yesterday, with all the lanterns, flags and cool Chinese things.
Then 30 came on, and Jared was running around the stage,
Jared had a mask on his face, which looked sexy!! Then they started playing A Beautiful Lie. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!
Kim let go, and we lost her and it got to the point in the mosh, where we were literally couldn’t breath and since Shell was a lil short, she couldn’t breath properly, it was the 4th song, and we had to get out!! And so we went crowd surfing!! Towards the front!!
When we got out, I looked up and saw Jared and I stopped breathing and Shell was close behind, she turned and looked at the two smexy Leto brothers raised her hand, and screamed!!
We went to the back and brought drinks and skulled them!! And we went and sat on the stairs. The bouncers were being bitches and told us we had to move, so we moved to another stair case!!
And we got awesome film!! XD
During the performance, Jared said *quiet a number of times actually!!* that this is his FAVOURITE place to perform, and this crowd was the biggest he’s ever seen (and he kept calling us crazy mother fuckers!!) Jared also said he would sign all of our shirts and whatever else we had cuz he thinks were awesome!! *which we were*
AFTER the concert, we found Kim and RAN to the line for the signing, the bouncers were being assholes *as usual* and we were debating what we were going to get signed!
Kim decided on her shoes, Shell on the back of her 30STM shirt, and ME!! MY PANTS!!! XD
Kim went first and said to Jared ‘thank you’ and Jared replied ‘NO, THANK YOU!’ (probs in a sexy voice too ;))
Shell went next and said to
The first time we went, I had my friend’s shirt, and they said they could only sign one thing, and when I left, I was a little upset cuz I wanted their signatures! So I RAN all the way back around and Shell told me to re-do my appearance so it didn’t look like I’ve been before, and when I got to them, I told Shannon to sign my pants, and he touched my thigh!! Tomo was next, and I was hoping down to him, he smiled and laughed, and then it was Jared’s turn, after he signed my pants, I told him I love him, and he looked straight into my eyes and he gave me that incredible smile of his and I died!!
When I got outside, AGAIN, Shell and Kim were there, and we were all really excited and I was crying!! (I couldn’t help it, you would be to if you told Jared you loved him, and he gave u that beautiful smile of his with those gorgeous blue eyes!!)
The stupid fucking bouncers CLOSED the doors then everyone was bagging on it and calling for them, they opened it again for the camera man, and we got on the camera and screamed our heads off!! *AGAIN!!* Then they closed it again, and we walked around to the back.
While we were waiting, a limo droved up, us thinking it may be 30, Kim RAN all the way to the top, and realized it was just a bunch of girls getting in there. She was so disappointed.
Luv always
Jess and shell
Note: Jess wrote this and i wrote this together (but when it says I - its jess !) lol

MCR and Muse Forced To Cancel Shows !!!!!!!!!!!
|
This would have to be my favortie MCR song
This Song has touched my HEART in ways I thought not possible……..
"The Ghost Of You"
I never said I'd lie and wait forever
If I died, we'd be together
I can't always just forget her
But she could try
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever ever...
Ever...
Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs in my arms she dies
She dies
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I? should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
If I fall
If I fall (down)
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna...

Avalon Drive (Aussie Punk Rock Band)- Check Them Out They Are Awesome
Band
"This is one band that will surprise many; a band that is on the rise and bound to be big," said Punkunited.com.
"The most promising rock act on the Australian scene" wrote Beat Magazine.
"Whoa - These guys are a hot rock property" said Rave Magazine.
Brisbane band Avalon Drive's Damion Page (vocals), Wil Morris (guitar/backing vocals), Ryan Kennedy (bass), Shane 'Holmesy' Holmes (drums) and BJ Dillewaard (keyboards) were mates all through school, played in various bands over the last four years and finally came together in early 2005 under the guise of Avalon Drive.
Since then
Avalon Drive has also been invited to play as support act to international artists including Anberlin, Crowned King ,Rufio and most recently Yellowcard, Matchbook Romance and now also Fall Out Boy.
In March 2006, Avalon Drive were invited to join US rockers, Yellowcard, on their Australian tour playing their first ever performance in Sydney at Luna Park's Big Top to a sold out crowd of 3000 people. The response to Avalon Drive so crazy that the band had to cut short their set halfway through their second song due to the crowd barrier breaking also forcing Houston Calls to cancel their set at the show. Yellowcard frontman, Ryan Key had to appear on stage to calm the crowd down telling fans that "you rocked out so hard for the opening band you broke the barrier". The response so crazy that the band were immediately offered the Australian support for
"We love to play live I think the five of us were born to play our music loud and to hundreds of people. The shows are crazy, there is never a moment where any of us stand still", incentive enough from BJ, the man on the keys. "Bring your mum, she'll love us" jokes frontman Damion.
In August 2005, the band released their first EP with bonus DVD through independent label Valet Records, selling thousands of copies around the country.
The debut single, This Simple Life, with the accompanying live video received wide recognition from the media, the internet and music television. The band's highly anticipated second single, Outside Alone, received high rotation on Channel V, Rage and the Nova FM network nationally whilst also featuring on the soundtracks to numerous surfing and dirt bike DVD's.
The band takes influence from rock and roll, but emphasise the value of good songwriting. It has been a long time coming for a melodically driven alternative sound to come out of
The boys have most recently been in the studio recording their highly anticipated second EP. "This is the record I've always wanted to write…all the hard work was worthwhile" says bassman, Ryan Kennedy. When asked what can be expected from the new album vocalist Damion Page said "it's definitely a new found energy for

Friendship ;)
xxx Love you all xxx
My Best Friend
Today I found a friend,
Who knew everything I felt.
She knew my every weakness,
And the problems I've been dealt.
She understood my wonders,
And listened to my dreams.
She listened to how I felt about life and love,
And knew what it all means.
Not once did she interrupt me,
Or tell me I was wrong.
She understood what I was going through,
And promised she'd stay long
I reached out to this friend
To show her that I care
To pull her close and let her know
How much I need her there I now hold her hand
AND
we sing songs under trees.......

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby.
